Educational Support Groups:
Six week
skill-building groups co-facilitate by the counselors are offered on
an ongoing basis. Groups focus on LIFE SKILLS, GRIEF ISSUES,
AND ANGER MANAGEMENT. Feel free to contact one of the
counselors for more information or to enroll your student.
Individual Counseling:
Your student may
wish to visit a counselor individually. If parents would like
a counselor to meet with their student, please call the school and
speak to a counselor. Confidentially in these meetings are
maintained as directed by law. If the counselor believes that
a student is suicidal, homicidal, being hurt or abused in anyway the
counselor will break confidentiality.

guidelines contained in the American School Counselor Association
Code of Ethics. This means we will keep the information you share
with us confidential—unless you give us permission to share it, or
unless we are required by law or school policy to share it.
If you have any questions or worries about these privacy rules,
please tell us! Your safety and welfare are our highest priorities.

When we must consult with other professionals to
better help you When we are required to release information by school policy,
state law, and/or the code of ethics for professional counselors For Example: If we believe you are at risk of harming yourself or others If we believe someone is trying to hurt you If a judge orders us to provide information in court If a law is broken
Curriculum:
Counselors present curriculum
to both the 6th and 7th grade students. 6th Grade curriculum
is based on needs assessment and discussion with our Steering
Committee. 7th grade curriculum is presented in the Career and
Technical Education (CTE) classrooms and includes self-knowledge and career
exploration.
Husky
Ambassadors:
Husky Ambassadors are a
group of students committed to being a good example to other
students, conduct tours of our school and help new students feel
comfortable being at a new school, give presentations during
Advisories and conduct service projects.
GYC (Governors Youth Council):
The GYC is a very
positive and educational youth group in our community that plans and
coordinates drug free activities to promote positive youth
lifestyles. The GYC was originally formed in 1982 by Governor
Scott Matheson to provide direct input to the Governor on what works
for substance abuse prevention and what the students of Utah need.
The GYC is still active today with more than 200 members statewide.
GYC is sponsored by the Bear River Health Department with an advisor
and two GYC Representatives from our school.
