Welcome

Welcome to the counseling program at Alice C. Harris Intermediate School.  Our School counselors can provide you with a variety of services including:

  • Academic advisement, post high school planning, and career information.

  • We can help you to develop and manage healthy life skills, healthy relationships, and coping skills.

  • We also provide responsive services. Responsive services included crisis response, mental and emotional wellness skills, group counseling, and individual counseling.

  • If you need services that we cannot provide, we will help you find someone who can help you.

Contacting Us:
We are available both by appointment and by walk-in.  We encourage parents or guardians to call for an appointment to avoid waiting .  To reach the Counseling Office, call (435) 515-5050 Monday through Thursday between 7:15 a.m. to 2:33 p.m., or Friday between 7:15 a.m. to 1:33 p.m.  We encourage students to sign up to see a counselor before or after school, during lunch or during breaks.  Students may come in on a walk-in basis if in a crisis or when referred by a school staff member.

Disclosure Notice: 
We follow the counseling guidelines contained in the American School Counselor Association Code of Ethics.  This means we will keep the information you share with us confidential unless you give us permission to share it, we must consult with other professionals to better help you, or unless we are required by law or school policy to disclose it.  
Examples of when we must disclose a student's information

  • we believe you are at risk for harming yourself or others

  • we believe someone is trying to hurt you

  • if a judge orders us to provide information for court

  • if a law is broken

If you have any questions about these privacy rules, please tell us.  Your safety and welfare are our highest priority.

About Our Counselors
The professional school counselors at ACHIS are licensed by the Utah State Board of Education. The counseling and guidance program at ACHIS meets all accreditation standards required by the Utah State Office of Education.  

  • ACHIS counselors follow state and national student outcomes, standards, and competencies for the Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.

  •   ACHIS counselors are active members of the Utah School Counselor’s Association and the American School Counselor’s Association.

Eligibility Rules

  1. Academic requirements: Students must have earned a cumulative 3 or higher average for first and second trimesters.

  2. Citizenship requirements: Students will not have any more than 1 N and no U’s cumulative in all classes first and second trimesters.

  3. Students must be willing and able to make up work missed in classes when necessary to perform student government business.  Students must be willing and able to come to school during the summer to help plan for the school year and to participate in parades.  Students must be able to stay after school to help clean up after activities and dances.  This often requires parental involvement for rides home after school and to various places during the summer.

Eligibility to Remain in Office

  1. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Failure to do so will result in dismissal from office.

  2. Earning a U in citizenship on your report card while in office will result in dismissal from office.  Students who earn an N in citizenship will be placed on probation the first time.  A second N on a report card will result in dismissal from office.  Any disciplinary referrals will also be taken into consideration.

  3. Students must help plan for, attend, and clean up after school activities and dances.

Voting will be done via google forms with student names and school pictures.
